Post-Holiday Blues

I got into the car yesterday and my holiday radio station was playing pop music. My tree is starting to resemble a large, droopy pile of kindling and I'm questioning the safety of turning on the lights. There are no presents under the aforementioned pile of kindling. Christmas dinner has been made, eaten, and packed away into tupperware. The kids have opened their presents (at the crack of dawn on Christmas day), exclaimed over them, and probably started to lose interest.
All in all, it was a wonderful Christmas, but I can't help feeling a little let down now that it's done. Maybe it's the rain. Maybe it's because I had to work the day after Christmas. Maybe I've been napping too much. Maybe it's because I didn't see my parents, didn't cook with my mother. More likely it's simply because we all love to have something to look forward to, and New Year's isn't really as exciting as it was when I was 21.
